1.000L Pillow Liner for sauces: More than 100.000 liners used without incidents

CONTEXT & COMPANY SITUATION

Producer of sauces and seasonings, working with a broad range of liquid products such as soy sauce, sweet-and-sour sauce, chili sauce and sambal. For filling liquids in bulk, the company uses Pillow Liners in combination with foldable IBCs. Production conditions vary from room temperature to heated products of approximately 90°C.

OBJECTIVE

To validate that 1.000L Pillow Liners are suitable for the efficient and safe filling of sauces at various temperatures and viscosities, and that the process runs consistently and cost-effectively.

APPROACH / TEST SETUP

Products: Soy sauce (up to 90°C), sweet-and-sour sauce (warm), chili sauce (warm), sambal
Container: Foldable IBC containers (square and rectangular footprint).
Liner: 1.000L Pillow Liner with a 2” BSP cuttable membrane and 2” BSP filling cap.
Process: Filling time approx. 15–20 minutes, under regular operator supervision. During filling, support is required to ensure the film unfolds properly. Unfolding after the first 100L and again after 500L is important to achieve full 1.000L capacity.
Emptying process: Dependent on whether the product is filled internally or externally. Internally on the bottle line, varying from 40–60 minutes.

RESULTS

Pillow Liners successfully filled over one hundred thousand bags without issues.
No problems occurred during filling, regardless of product or temperature, partly due to the slower filling speed of 15–20 minutes. This also gives the operator sufficient time to support the process.
The emptying process is reliable, with duration varying based on product and receiving installation (40–60 minutes). An external V50 valve is used to pierce the film of the 2” BSP cuttable membrane.

CONCLUSION

The 1.000L Pillow liner is a proven and reliable solution for filling a wide range of liquid products.
Although the liner requires support and supervision during filling, it offers consistent performance across different temperatures and product types.
The process is stable, efficient, and has demonstrated scalability with tens of thousands of successful fillings.

LEARNINGS

Pillow Liners are highly suitable for various liquid products, even at high temperatures (up to approx. 90°C).
Take into account the need for operator supervision during filling to ensure proper unfolding.
This is not continuously necessary and depends on the filling speed. Higher-viscosity sauces take longer to fill.
For applications where operator availability is limited, a liner without support requirements (such as an Easyfill or T-liner) may be more efficient.
Pillow Liners are cost-efficient and competitively priced, offering an attractive bulk packaging solution.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
