Why should I choose for a liner-system/bag-in-box system?

Generally speaking there are three main advantages for choosing a liner system. Cost advantage (container purchase, cleaning, lost equipment), logistic optimization(storage and return transport) and investing capacity. Stainless steel containers will cost about 1500-2500 euro/container, which is considerably high cost in both purchasing and depreciation. Furthermore they are not foldable or disposable, making return logistics a cost-intensive practise.

Which liner do I need?

The specific liner you need depends of several factors. These are among others: the product to fill, the container you (plan to) use, the filling method(manual/automatic), expectations of your customer etc. Qbig can usually quickly determine your need by asking these specific questions. Some examples can be found in the products section of our website.

What material do I need?

Liner “material” usually refers to the film used. The film used merely depends on the sensitivity of the packaged liquids. Most products(oils, liquid egg, sauces) can be packaged using a VLDPE film. Others however have to be protected against oxygen(apple concentrate changes in color) and are mostly packaged using EVOH or PET-MET film material. Also other products, such as water requires specific foil to prevent the water from getting a “plastic taste”. Qbig advices you in choosing the correct film for your requirements.

What is the capacity of your liners?

Liner dimensions and capacity are always adapted on the size and dimensions of the container. Normal container capacities are 250L, 500L and 1000L, however Qbig also delivers special liners varying from 50L till 2000L.

In which containers can I use your liners/fitments?

Qbig is an independent liner supplier and adapts its product to the containers availlable in the market. We do this by using differen adapters (clips) to make our liners fit.

This makes our liners fir in all well-nown containers in the market, such as Pallecons, One-Trips, Cube’s, Ultra’s, Combolife series, SpaceKraft, Buckhorn, Goodpack, Orca’s, etc. The list of suitable containers doesn’t end here as for new or not yet known containers we can easily make a new clip making our liners fit.

Below you’ll find a list with all the tested containers.

  • Combolife
  • cl285
  • cl65
  • hybrid
  • One-Trip
  • Cube
  • Pallecon (ultra)
  • Unifold container
  • Ceva container
  • Jumbotainer

For what products can liners be used?

In short: Everything in liquid, which is not classified as hazardous(following UN directives). This can be from vinegar, to honey, glue, ink, color additives, liquid egg, oils, cosmetics towards beer for dogs. For UN-hazardous goods specific containers and test certificates are needed which can be obtained on customer specific grounds.

What is a fitment?

Fitments are the connections on the top and bottom of a liner. These caps and valves allow liners to be filled and discharged in a safe and efficient manner.

What is a liner?

Liners can be seen as the primary packaging of a product. This liner surrounds the liquid, allowing to be transported from A to B in a safe manner. The liner consists of a large (plastic) bag equiped with fitments. In some cases customers use an additional “open top” bag in their container to have an extra protective layer between liner and the outer packaging.

What is a (outer) container?

The container is needed for the structure of the packaging. The container can be made of steel, plastic, wood or cardboard and is often rigid for one trip solutions (cardboard) or foldable multiple trip solutions (plastic).  Many different shapes, materials and folding possibilities are availlable in the market.

For what applications can I use your liners and fitments?

Our liners are used for packaging of all kinds of non-hazardous liquids. In combination with the right fitments also aseptic packaging is possible. Our main markets can be found in the industry section on our website.

I currently use Schutz/Mauser/Sotralenz/Fustiplast IBC's. Can I also use your liners?

Replacement of “rigid IBC’s” by the bag-in-box principle is widely been done. Especially our T-shaped liner can be a good replacement. These types of liners fill automatically (requiring no handling from an operator) and are equiped with a central filling cap. This allows existing filling equipment to be used and requires little additional adaptions.
